Robert Altman: I Am What I Am: Organized by Ellen Berkenblit

May 18 - June 24, 2006
Overview

I Am What I Am brings together previously unseen materials (still photographs, snapshots and other ephemera) culled from American film director Robert Altman’s personal archive by painter Ellen Berkenblit. The exhibition will offer a look at the Altman atmosphere and the director’s interest in behavior (rather than performance), location and space.

Three short, rarely shown and very comical home movies will be screened during the exhibition: "The Kathryn Reed Story" which was made as a birthday present for Altman’s wife, narrated by Ted Knight, "The Party" which follows one man wandering through a crazy and very happening 60s party, and "Pot au Feu" which details a recipe for rolling the perfect joint.
