In his first one person show at Anton Kern Gallery, Dan McCarthy is presenting recent paintings and drawings. Made simply with oil and enamel, almost suggesting gouache and watercolor, and vibrant in the appearance. These paintings are figurative, bizarrely abstract. They are as violent as they are caring to the subject matter as well as to the medium.
