He begins by applying oil paint on a flat sheet of stainless steel, plotting an exaggeratedly proportioned face. He then crumples the flat sheet into a voluminous form, creating protrusions and shadows to lock the character's expression into place. The title for the work refers to the remote villa outside Madrid where Francisco Goya spent his late years and created the Black Paintings.
