David Byrd | Catalogue Raisonné

Anton Kern Gallery is pleased to announce the launch of David Byrd's Online Catalogue Raisonné: Volume 1: Painting, Sculpture, Book, Studies.

The David Byrd Estate has joined forces with Anton Kern Gallery to compile an online
catalogue raisonné of Byrd’s paintings, sculptures, and works on paper.

Volume 1 is devoted to Byrd’s paintings and sculptures created between 1940 and 2013; it
documents 326 oil on canvas paintings, 41 sculptures and assemblages, Byrd’s manuscript, Montrose V.A. 1958–88, and the studies associated directly with these works. It also includes a selection of important archival materials, including photographs of his hand-built home and studio in the Catskill Mountains in Upstate New York and a selection of letters written to and from family, art publishers, critics, and museums. The most recent additions are an interview between Matthew Higgs and Andrea Hull on the occasion of Byrd's posthumous solo exhibition at White Columns, New York in 2019; and three specially-commissioned texts written by Robert Cozzolino, Merlin James, and Jennifer Samet.
